If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again. Bryon’s plan to proposed to Brittney in a family spot was foiled, but with some quick thinking, he came up with a new location.
We know it sounds cliche, but everything happens for a reason. Brittney + Byron’s story sent to us by MAK Photography is evident of that. Read on + about how a prayer tree engagement turned into a walk in the park.. (or did it?!)
From MAK Photography ~
“Byron contacted me back in February about photographing his proposal to his beloved Brittney. We met shortly after the initial conversation at the location where he was planning to propose. Everything was planned out, how he was going to get her there, where I was going to be hiding and which way Brittney would be facing. Brittney is shy and hates it when the attention is on her. Thus, my awesome extreme hiding spot!
Bryon planned to propose at the Historic Dole Mansion after visiting their families’ prayer tree (a spot the family goes to pray in good or bad times). On the day of the proposal, everything was going wrong. There were people outside the Mansion around their prayer tree! Little did Brittney know while she was getting ready for the day, Byron was frantically texting me trying to arrange a new plan.
We decided to move the proposal across the street to Main Beach at a swing that overlooked the lake! I am in the perfect hiding spot, behind/in a bush, off the path; there’s no way she will see me! As it turns out Brittney was running a few minutes late, so I continued to wait anxiously all while getting updates from Byron about their ETA. I had been in the bushes around 10 minutes when I spotted 4 people walking towards the swing the proposal was going to take place. How could this be happening? As I nervously looked around, I knew I couldn’t jump out of the bushes and risk Byron and Brittney arriving and seeing me. So I sat and waited, hoping Brittney would still be running late.
Finally, 10 minutes later they walk away from the swing and right on the path in my direction. This is the exact moment Byron and Brittney started walking on the path towards the swing. The group of 4 is walking past and notices me and being saying “Why is there a photographer in the bush?” Of course, as they are saying this they are walking past my couple! “NO! Please don’t hear that!” I thought. Byron and Brittney kept walking not even looking my direction. Phew!
I slowly get up out of the bush as they pass me, and continue to photograph them from behind a tree. Byron gets down on his knee to propose. I inch closer to get the perfect shot. I hear Brittney start crying and saying “YES!” and hugging Byron.
All of a sudden all I hear is applause, hooting and hollering! The group of 4 had stopped and sat in the distance watching all of this awesomeness take place. Byron and Brittney turned around, shocked to see the group cheering for them. While I was a looking at all the negative happening around, it was actually just fate setting up the perfect moment for these two. As I walked up to introduce myself and congratulate them, I am in love with just how perfect this day ended up for them! Everything always happens for a reason!”
See it all take place in pictures ~
