SO (that’s a capital SO!) many pretty details made up ((Anna + Chris’)) wedding at the Morton Arboretum! Hear from the bride as she describes their love story + wedding day.
From Anna ~ “Chris and I met in Washington, DC quite by coincidence. Both of us were at a happy hour with colleagues and friends. After catching each other’s eyes, we soon struck up a conversation which progressed into him asking me out to dinner…and then suggesting it happen that very night. After discovering an abundance of shared personality traits, including both having played the saxophone growing up and grandmas with the name Ruth to having a passion for travel and learning we both studied abroad in College in Spain, we just clicked and continued to grow closer, happier, and more in love as our relationship progressed.”
“Our engagement happened over the Fourth of July weekend when we were with his parents and brother at their house in Weaverville, North Carolina…Having spent numerous weekends hiking and being outdoors, it wasn’t a complete surprise when Chris suggested he and I take a sunrise hike in the Blue Ridge Parkway the morning of the 4th to take a photo for our new apartment… As we hiked our way up at 6 a.m. and upon reaching the top, I proceeded to take the photo when Chris called my name from behind me. Turning around, I found him on one knee with a ring in his hand. Tears glistening in both of our eyes, I said yes to the man of my dreams – right there on top of a mountain top!”
From the bride:
“Selecting blue hydrangeas as our central flower, also the nickname of Chris’ family house in Weaverville, NC where we got engaged, was also an easy decision. From there, the pieces fell together and we continued to use the light blues, whites and greens to accent our wedding.”
Bridesmaids donned Capri Blue Bill Levkoff dresses as the bride was the belle of the ball in Pronovias. Th groom says, “[They] looked like clouds in the blue sky walking down the aisle.” From the bride:
The Arboretum was the perfect venue for us. We both love the outdoors and knew we wanted a relaxing and beautiful location that could also accommodate an outdoor service. (We just had to keep our fingers crossed for good weather!) We loved how easy it was to transition from the ceremony to the reception and how far removed it was from our typically busy city lives. From the bride:
“We utilized small birds in many of our decorations – including the ceramic lovebirds at our sweetheart table and birdcages scattered throughout the ceremony. We picked soft colors for our bridal party attire to reflect the relaxed, natural outdoor setting.”Chris + Anna spent a few weeks practicing for their first dance to, “Someone Like You” by Van Morrison. The couple always related to the line, ‘the best is yet to come.’
“We may have missed a step or two but we could not stop smiling at each other. At that moment, we couldn’t imagine anything better “yet to come.” ~ Anna says.
