The Groom’s Night Out
Alternative Bachelor Parties
The words “Bachelor Party” most often evoke thoughts of a very wild night on the town. Some brides aren’t really keen on the idea of the traditional bachelor party and what it conjures up in their minds.
Some grooms may also feel the same way, but sometimes peer pressure or a wild best man can get in the way of a celebration more along the lines that the two of you envision. Talk to your fiancée about your thoughts on this part of the wedding festivities to avoid uncomfortable feelings that could spoil your happiness before, on, or even after your wedding day.
There are great bachelor parties that can be an alternative to a night out at a strip club. How about a weekend trip of golfing on a prized course? If you live in a major city, there is always a professional sporting event to attend and purchasing a skybox for the guys is always a treat. Maybe you and your friends would rather workout yourselves with a game of football at the old neighborhood park and then a barbeque back at the house. Some guys may just want to go out to dinner and do a little bar hopping. Another evening of male bonding might include a trip to a casino, complete with all types of entertainment from gambling to sports bars.
If alcohol will play a part of the evening, or if there will be a lot of stops on the evening’s agenda, you may want to consider hiring transportation for the evening. Today’s large SUV-type limousines are extremely popular for bachelor parties. With luxuries like bars, TV’s, and DVD players inside, they are actually a “party on wheels”. Whichever type of celebration of the last remnants of your single life that you choose, make sure both of you are comfortable with the outing.
