Registry & gift decisions
Compiling your registry items should be one of the most fun aspects of planning your wedding. Traditionally, guests are meant to give wedding gifts that will help a couple build and furnish their home. With couples getting married in their late 20s and 30s, and the the growing number of second and third marriages, many couples already own all of the household necessities, so they opt for less traditional registries. Modern registries can include travel credit for your honeymoon expenses, home and garden centers for household repairs, renovations, and additions, donations to non-profit organizations and charities, restaurant gift certificates, and much more. There are no registry restrictions, so you should register for the items you really need, and the items you just really want!
Select your bridal registry soon after you announce your engagement. Friends and relatives can select engagement party gifts, bridal shower gifts, and, of course, wedding gifts from the same registry. Following proper wedding etiquette, the bride's mother, sisters, and bridesmaids should inform guests of the couple's registry location, but many modern couples include their registry information on engagement party and bridal shower invites.
Many stores, particularly those in a competitive market, may offer valuable registry incentives, such as bonuses, completion discounts, free shipping, complimentary gift-wrapping, and various other perks, so be sure to listen to all the details of your registry!
Just as guests bring wedding gifts, you should send your guests home with a token of your appreciation. Wedding favors can be anything from Jordan almonds to lavish gifts, charity donations to tree-buds. The choice is yours.
