Reception venues
When you begin planning your perfect reception, consider a few factors before you sign a venue contract in ink. Consider the amount of people you plan on inviting, your budget, and your dream reception style. If you plan on holding your ceremony in a church or in another house of worship, the venue may have a suitable room for your reception, but you can always move your party elsewhere.
Consider local gardens, arboretums, or conservatories for an outdoor summer reception, cutting down on your florist bill. Consider holding your reception in a restored historical mansion or in a local museum, as many have the space and the amenities to hold an exquisite (and educational) event. If you'd like to keep your reception intimate and less formal, or if you're working with a limited budget, consider hosting your reception in your backyard, or possibly in your family's home.
Chicago has not one, but two beautiful bodies of water, so you might consider hosting a beach reception right on the lake. You could also erect tents by the waterfront and treat your guests to a boat ride down the river! Visit your top four or five favorite locations, and speak with a manager about your design options. Most venues will be happy to accommodate your various needs. Reserve your reception spot well in advance, and promptly pay any necessary deposits.
Remember that your options aren't limited to hotels ans banquet halls. You have plenty of other choices, particularly in Chicago. The windy city has a plethora of beautiful sites and unique venues to choose from, so don't limit yourself! You deserve the best reception possible, so do some research to find the best venues for your wedding.
