Their Romance...
Dawne and Michael met in July fo 2007 while working at the same Los Angeles law
firm.
Although she definitely had a crush on Michael, Dawne was too shy to let him know.
When she hosted a fundraiser at her house for an AIDS marathon she was running in
Italy, she didn't invite him. But Michael had a crush on Dawne too, and showed up
anyway.
"He ended up coming with one of my friends," Dawne recalls. "He was trying to
devise every possible way to hang out and meet at the same time."
Later that week, Michael and Dawne hug out again after work during happy hour.
The pair danced the night away at an '80s nightclub, then ended up at a diner where
they talked into the wee hours of the morning.
"The night never ended," Dawne says. "It was awesome."
When Michael asked Dawne to marry him on April Fools' Day 2008, she at first
thought he was joking.
"I was like, 'What are you saying?'" Dawne recalls.
While Michael was definitely serious, he didn't have the ring just yet. That's because
Dawne is a diehard Cubs fan. So Michael wanted to wait until the perfect moment to
give it to her - an upcoming Cubs-Dodgers game.

Their Wedding...
The eve of Michael and Dawne's vintage-themed wedding fell on Halloween, making
it only fitting that everyone arrive to the rehearsal dinner in costume.
The couple's pre-wedding festivities also included taking Michael's nephews Trick-
or-Treating, a tradition the youngsters hand't experienced being from the groom's
native country of England.
The next day, Dawne found herself dressing up once more. Her custom-designed
satin chiffon ballroom gown featured a European-style bustle. A birdcage veil
completed her elegant vintage look.
Boasting an exquisite English garden reminiscent of the ones in Michael's hometown
of London, the historical Elizabeth F. Cheney Mansion offered an ideal ceremony and
reception site.
While planning their wedding, Michael and Dawne opted against a champagne tree
they wanted for the reception. But when the newlyweds arrived, there it was, a
wedding gift from their caterer, Bonnie Katz at Catered by Design.
"It blew my mind," Dawne says. "It was the first tear of the evening."
For dinner, guests feasted on a delectable menu of char grilled wild salmon with a
maple and pomegranate glaze, herb crusted pork loin, green beans almandine and
butternut squash varioli. The meal also featured a smashed white and sweet potato
bar complete with martinit glasses and a variety of yummy toppings.
Instead of a wedding cake, the newlyweds offered individual cupcakes featuring
flavors such as red velvet, banana Nutella and pumpkin. As an added treat, guests
received exquisite linen boxes containing personalized Hershey's Kisses and Hugs.
Each box read, "Hugs and Kisses from the new Mr. and Mrs."

Their Advice...
Make sure at some point in the evening you can sneak off with your husband,
somewhere where you can observe your family and your friends without them
noticing. Take it all in.
Look deeply into the eyes of your new husband that night. I've never seen him more clearly than I did on that night.
