Inviting your guests
When your grandmother makes a scrapbook of your wedding day for your one-year anniversary present (the traditional gift is paper), she'll no doubt include your wedding invitation, so you should put some thought into it's design. It is also the first impression of your wedding to your guests, so make it a good one!
STEP 1: Establish an invitation budget. Factor in the number of guests you plan to invite and the required postage. You should probably include your engagement announcements and your Save the Date cards into your invitation budget as well, but since your primary expense will be your formal invites, you should divide your budget accordingly.
STEP 2: Think about your wedding theme. You may want to color-coordinate your invitations to match your wedding palette. You may want to incorporate design elements or accent themes from your floral arrangements or other decor. Since you're basically starting from scratch when you design your invitations, it may help to use your wedding decor as a design guide.
STEP 3: Consult with a paper supplier or stationer. Turning to the invitation experts is truly the best way to find the perfect design, layout, and decorations for your wedding invitations. A paper supplier or a stationer will walk you through their inventory, organize your options according to your price range, provide you with numerous examples of other invitations, and work with you to design the best possible invitations for your wedding.
