Love blooms
When you hire your florist or your design specialist, and particularly when you begin designing your floral arrangements, remember, you aren't just buying flowers. You're creating your wedding day vision! And, you aren't just investing in floral arrangements; you're also investing in your designer's talent and creativity. Without those elements, a rose by any other name is really just a plant.
When choosing the perfect florist, visit the flower shop first. A quality shop should have a full inventory of blooms from which to choose. Floral arrangements should be interestingly displayed and artfully designed. The flowers should look fresh and well cared for. There should be a wide variety of vases, pots, and planters to choose from, along with an extensive selection of ribbons, decorations, and other accents. The staff should be welcoming and helpful. Even if you only hire one florist, other staff members may contribute to the arrangement process or aid in the delivery service, so ultimately you should feel comfortable with your florist's helpers.
Meet with your floral designer personally. You need to speak with the person who will actually design the bouquets, the table centerpieces, the boutonnieres, the corsages, and any other floral arrangements you may need. Discuss your ideas, establish a clear budget, and provide a color palette. Also, stay open to your florist's suggestions. You may not love every idea, but some may be useful. Did you know that when flowers are in season, they're significantly less expensive? Your florist will surely know that, along with every type of seasonal flower!
